Project
With a total investment of AU$1.96 billion, the 1,026MW MacIntyre Wind Energy Precinct will be ACCIONA’s biggest renewable energy facility and one of the largest onshore wind farms in the world. Developed in partnership with CleanCo, the wind farm is expected to be operational in 2024. The project consists of 189 wind turbines and a 64km transmission line providing connection to the existing electricity network.
Outcome
By greening Queensland’s electricity mix, the MacIntyre wind complex will help the state meet its decarbonisation commitments and climate change mitigation strategies.
Commencing in 2019, Attexo has played a key role in supporting Acciona to secure all necessary approvals for the project and is providing ongoing assistance during construction.
Key aspects of Attexo’s involvement have included:
- Coordination of approvals and permitting including management of interface with key regulatory agencies
- Regular interface and coordination with project engineering personnel to refine project layout and design in response to identified development constraints
- Environmental offsets strategy preparation and implementation including delivery of Offset Area Management, Offset Delivery and Translocation Plans.
- Development of management plans to address conditions of approval at both State and Commonwealth levels including coordination of specialist input as required.
- Coordination of all secondary permits including obtaining exemptions or approvals for ancillary project infrastructure (met masts, telecommunications infrastructure and borrow pits)
- Development and implementation of a construction environmental compliance framework including review of contractor documentation (EMPs, ESCPs etc) and delivery of on-site monitoring and audits during construction.
- Support regarding tenure matters including interface with State Forest tenure and cadastral corrections.
- On-ground translocation program for 3,000+ protected plants (Macrozamia conferta) from the project footprint.
